I love cookbooks, cooking, talking about food, and, most of all, sitting down to a meal with others. (Eating alone just isn’t the same.) To wrap all of these interests into one, I started a cookbook club and accompanying blog called Dowdy Corners Cookbook Club in 2010. In the fall of 2013 my then boyfriend (now husband), Mike, and I moved from Randolph, Vermont, to Richmond, Virginia (and from area code 802 to 804*). While in Richmond, I continued to write the occasional blog posting, most often inspired by the diverse foods of the Upper South, covering ground from the Tidewater to the Piedmont and further west to Appalachia. In 2019 we moved to France to restore a very old house, which leaves me little time for the pleasure of writing about eating. (Though naturally, since living in France, we’ve done plenty of pleasurable eating.) Ironically, the last posting on my blog is about French food, written before I knew we’d be departing for France the same year. Once the French house project is completed, I do believe the writing will recommence.
*I’d be happy to link to an 804-themed song. If one exists, send me email with a link.
